SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - Due to Friday's Rain delays, the Argos had to play three games in one day. With one win and two losses the GSC tournament came to an end for the 3rd seeded Argonauts. The first game was a success as West Florida defeated Henderson State 8-1, on the strength of three home runs. Nicky VanCamp blasted two home runs and Jillian LaFrance defeated Henderson State for the second time this season. Emily Burge was 3 for 4 at the plate, with a home run, and Taren Walton blasted one off the fence just inches from what would have been the Argos fourth home run.
After winning the 10 AM game, the Argos took on the number one seed, and 2nd ranked Alabama Huntsville in a 3:00 pm game, and they were shut out 5-0. Immediately, following that game, the Argos went into the elimination game against North Alabama and fell 7-2 to be eliminated from the GSC Tournament. Shortstop Caurie Miller provided the only Argo offense with a two run homer.
Only four teams remain following Saturday's action. Arkansas Tech, Alabama Huntsville, Valdosta State, and North Alabama remain for Sunday's action. West Florida is ranked 7th in the region, and will have to wait and see how the NCAA selection committee ranks the South Region on Sunday. Most likely the Argos will be playing in the NCAA tournament this Wednesday at top seeded Barry University
